We trade.
Not invest.
The Undergraduate Trading Society at UC San Diego provides education to those interested in trading and a network of other fellow student traders with a current member standing of over 40 students. Trading is hard enough as it is, UTS was created to help other new and developing traders grow their accounts as well as their trading skills.
Education is vital.
At the UTS, learning the proper techniques to become a successful trader is our number one goal. Risk management, technical skills, and management of emotions are key to a traders success. Keeping track of your trading and journaling those trades is also key. The UTS seeks to educate student traders on all of these fronts.
Consistency is key.
We understand trading the markets is a marathon, not a sprint. You have to walk before you run. Growing a small account requires consistent well managed trades. We always push our members to plan their trades, take the trade, and stick to the rules of that trade. Focus on the techniques of trading, not your PnL, and the account growth will follow.
Building a community.
“If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” African Proverb.
One of UTS’s goals during our founding was to create a network of student traders at UC San Diego and beyond. Trading is hard. Being a student is hard, especially such a prestigious school like UCSD. Finding a community of like minded individuals who trade the financial markets is key to a new or developing traders success.
